The girls’ teams have had a number of group pre-Christmas sessions. Part of the focus for the girls in this pre-season has been the importance of an effective warm up.
Every girl, both return players and new, has showed fabulous skill improvement across the sessions already. At the try out clinic in November, current players came to welcome newcomers to the club with gusto!
Player numbers are strong with recruiting help from schools Mentone Girls Secondary, Mentone Girls Grammar and Kilbreda College as well as St Patrick’s Primary. We couldn’t do this without them! Numbers are already building across all teams at this early stage and with another Women’s and Girls’ Come-&-Try-Day planned for 18 February, these teams will go from strength to strength!
Many of the upper junior boys’ teams have started pre-season training and have also added to this commitment with the brilliant running club organized for all junior players who wish to keep their fitness up in the off season. Many boys have headed down to the Mentone Life Saving Club on a Monday after school and done the dash along the foreshore. The benefits will pay off once the season starts and our Tiger boys have the fitness and stamina to run all day!
