SBMT AFC today announced its youth teamΒ coaching appointments for season 2022.

According to the club’s Director of Football, Joe Galati, the appointments are reflective of the club’s key objective to attract volunteer coaches with a growth mindset and commitment to ongoing learning.

β€œOur coaches are our lead educators and the custodians of youth talent. We hold the firm belief at SBMT that good coaches never stop learning and we need to create a developmentΒ focusedΒ environment thatΒ best supportsΒ this” said Galati.

The new appointments further enhance, what is already a highly respected AFL coaching panel, comprising three AFL Level 2 accredited coaches and numerous AFL development academy coaches.

TheΒ keyΒ additionsΒ of Andrew Saultry (former club VAFA under 19sΒ midfieldΒ coach and current SFNL Division 1 assistant coach), Chelsea Bowen (Former Mentone Grammar AFL Coach),Β Brayden O’Toole (SBMTΒ VAFA Seniors player) &Β Russell GouldΒ (acclaimedΒ basketball coach)Β will significantly bolster the club’s coaching ranks.

β€œI am confident that Andrew, Chelsea, Brayden & Russell will complement our
re-appointedΒ seniorΒ coaches Lou Colella, Tighe Chandler, Natalie Corrigan,
Stuart Curran, Tony Corcoran and Jason Swain”, said Galati.

β€œTo also have the depth and quality of someΒ highly talented lineΒ coaches like
Paul McCormack,Β Aldo Mangoni, Shaun Napier,Β Chloe SaultryΒ & Georgia WilsonΒ supporting our senior coachesΒ is just amazing”, said Galati.

β€œWe are so fortunate at SBMT, that we have a highly connected development pathway from juniors, youth to senior’s football and our programme is builtΒ onΒ ourΒ coaches allΒ working together in sync to uphold the pillars of our curriculum and ensure a tailored transition”, said Galati.

With a laser like focus on developing its people (coaches and players alike), the future looks bright for this proudΒ and storiedΒ communityΒ footballΒ club.
