11 members of the 1956 Mentone FC Premiership Team joined many family representatives and new Hall of Fame Inductees in a fantastic lunch before the senior game against Old Camberwell on Saturday. Many friends were reunited over stories of past glories and the famous Grand Final win over Mordialloc. It was a sight to behold as players such as Kevin Scott, Johnny Riley, Ted McGowan, Norm Oldham & Ray Shaw were able to once again catch up with team mates Jack Thompson, Ian & Don Meckiff , Bruce Gatford, Stan Moss, Rick Proffit and even team mascot Robert Blanche!
Jock & Anita Vance travelled from Wangaratta, the Banfields from Drouin to celebrate our new Hall of Fame Inductions as well as Margaret’ Mitsy’ Gallagher and her daughter Denise and grandson Darcy who were their for our famous Captain Coach of the 1956 Team- Bill Gallagher. Many new stories of the Club during the 1950’s era came to light as well as a number of photographs and memorabilia during the day. A terrific meal and afternoon tea served by the club complimented the efforts by all concerned.
