About Our Club

St Bedes/Mentone Tigers Amateur Football Club is an Australian Rules Football Club.  We field teams in every age group from Auskick & Under 8s through to Seniors.

Our vision is to be the premier ‘amateur’ Australian Rules Football Club; a club where people join to share the pursuit of excellence and success not only in football, but across a wide range of activities. We are not a club which seeks to win at all costs, but one which strives for success through exceptional performance across all spectrums of our operation.

We wish to been seen by our local community as a club which conducts itself at the highest level. One with pride, compassion and commitment to family values. A club that supports and engages its local community.

Teams

Each team has a Coach, Team Manager, Assistant Coach and other team officials as required by the SMJFL & VAFA competitions.

Team managers are the primary point of contact and will be able to provide advice on any aspect regarding the team and competition. They will also seek  volunteers to support the needs of the team to compete each week.

Matches

Games are played across south-east Melbourne for our junior sides, whilst in the senior teams it can be cross the metropolitan area.   Games are not played at set times each week, however, younger age groups are usually played at earlier times.  The Junior sides play Sundays, whilst the senior section play Saturdays.

Each week, a number of volunteering roles are needed to help the teams function. These may include umpiring (field* and goal), trainer, runner, scoring, voting for best players, timekeeper, and half-time fruit.

*only for Modified Rules games.

Training and Playing Gear

Depending on your age group, training will be once or twice a week for an hour to an hour and a half. The club will advise training day/s and time/s via your team manager.

Players may train in any sports gear they choose, whilst the club provide a playing jumper for players.   Other playing gear will need to purchase from the club including home, (Blue) and away (white) shorts, club socks.  Football boots and a mouth guard are also essential.
