The seniors recorded a tough 29 point victory over second placed Monash. The reserves kicked 33 goals in their rampage, whilst the U19’s came from 22 points down to record a two point win over third placed Ormond. The Clubies were well beaten by Scotch. We are now three games clear atop of the C Section ladder after yesterday’s 29 point win over second place Monash Blues. The clash between the top two sides at Brindisi Street was a torrid low scoring affair until the Tigers kicked into gear after the last break. All season the Tigers have been plagued with inaccurate kicking. At three quarter time they led by just four points having kicked 5.14 to Monash 6.4. to lead by just four points. The Tigers held sway mainly due to the efforts of winger James Tyquin who was once again outstanding. Tyquin beat several opponents in a brilliant running display. The Wintles brothers were again in form with skipper Luke holding sway across back, whilst Paul Wintle at across half forward kicked two. Younger brother Michael was also amongst the best.
Back pocket David Kinsella was another shinning light showing plenty of dash and desperation through out the game.
Dimunitive Luke Terrell the t/igers leading goal kicker for the past two seasons returned to the side for his first game of the season. Terrell finished with two goals and a solid performance.
Monash were the first to goal in the last quarter for a two point lead against the undefeated Tigers. This saw St Bedes swing into gear with two quick goals from Steve Zakic and Luke Terrell.
Across half back Jon Kane and Nick Corda gave their team momentum as Monash buckled. Goals to Luke Beveridge, Paul Groves and Andrew Hayes saw the tigers finish with 27 scoring shots to 13.
