The Senior side accounted for North Old Boys in a one side affair. The Reserves returned to the winning list whilst the U19’s smoked Ajax. St Bedes Mentone Tigers recorded their 16th straight win with a comprehensive 88 defeat over a disappointing North Old Boys.
The Scafidi brothers lead the show with pocket rocket Andrew Scafidi destroying NOBS with four first half goals. His evasive play and finishing thrilled the tiger supporters. After half time Scafidi moved into the middle and continued his demolition job. Older brother Anthony was also amongst the Tigers best as his attack on the ball and strong overhead marking helped the St Bedes backline dominate.
Despite being undefeated the Tigers introduced U19 star Brendan Neville to their line up. Neville is another explosive rover who was amongst the best in a fine debut.
The Tigers sharp shooters were lead by Fiery Tim McColl and Andrew Hayes both finished with five goals. Full forward Luke Terrell finished with three.
St Bedes exploded with seven first quarter goals. Michael Wintle was in scintillating form as he helped set up a number of early goals.
Tiger Coach Luke Beveridge rotated his midfield players and took the opportunity to give valuable game time to others. With a number of players returning to the fray from the the sidelines in the next two weeks, the Tigers are readying themselves for the run to the finals.
The Tigers meet Monash Blues next week in a make or break game for the Blues finals chances.
