Crucial clash with fourth placed St Kevins and a second semi berth almost certainly resting on the outcome. Seniors had not been defeated at Brindisi St in two years. St Kevins came well prepared and outplayed the tigers in the first half to lead by 13 points at half time. The seniors dominated the third term however inaccurate kicking and two late goals to St Kevins saw St Kevins in fact extend their lead to 15 points at ยพ time.
It was evident though that St Kevins were tiring. The Tigers came out for the final term and kicked four goals in five minutes to hit the lead. Luke Terrell who had started on the bench came on and kicked three. The side ran amok with Sam Anstey, Ben Phibbs, Sam Hecker and Andrew Scafidi all kicking running goals to close the game out. The last quarter saw St Kevins scoreless whilst the Tigers had 20 scoring shots and nine 9 goals to run out 50 point winners Needless to say Coach Luke Beveridge had ripped into his side at half time and they had responded.
Paul Wintle dominated in the last quarter off his wing, whilst brother Luke was best a field in the ruck.
State U19 captain Brendan Neville along with Anstey took control of the centre breaks and continually drove the Tigers into attack. St Kevins were killed out of the middle after half time. Whilst the tiger backline had kept the them in the match early with Dean Porter dominating across half back. He was backed up by Jordan Lynch and Nic Corda who both played well. Sam Hecker showed a return to form and finished with two goals.
