In B Section the seniors talent was on show when Under 19 Patrick Kean made a strong debut as the Tigers ran over Old Melburnians by 67 points at the Junction Oval.
Kean is the ninth Under 19 to be promoted this year.
Kean’s pace and left-foot disposal were perfect for the spacious ground.
State Under 19 captain Brendan Neville and fellow youngster Rob Swayn set up the SBMT win by smashing the Melburnians around the stoppages.
With Luke Wintle dominating in the ruck, the win was assured.
Paul Groves kicked five goals before leaving the ground with a hip injury in the last quarter.
Fellow targets Ben Phibbs kicked two to make a season tally of 51 and Sam Hecker four for 35.
With two rounds left the seniors travel to Banksia Reserve to play in the derby against relegation candidate Beaumaris.
