The board of St Bedes/Mentone Tigers is excited to The board of St Bedes/Mentone Tigers is excited to announce a bold new direction for the senior men’s team with appointment of Joel McKee and Tom Tyquin as co-coaches for the 2026 season. Both Joel and Tom have an established, strong connection to the club. Joel through playing and coaching at the Tigers, and Tom through his own stellar playing career and also his family as the son of a premiership coach and brother of a premiership player. Joel steps into the senior role after an impressive four-year tenure as our Reserves Coach, where he has played a key role in developing emerging talent and fostering a strong team culture culminating in a preliminary final appearance in 2025. Tom rejoins the club after a playing stint in Canberra and will take on the role as a playing-coach, adding a dynamic presence both on and off the field, bringing valuable on-field experience and leadership to a playing list chock full of talent. The pair are close friends, and independently bring the values and standards which underpin any success. As a combination they have the capacity to imprint those values and standards on the players and the club while driving football development. We are excited about the passion, experience, and club spirit Joel and Tom bring to the role.
The Board of St Bedes/Mentone Tigers would like to The Board of St Bedes/Mentone Tigers would like to extend its thanks to outgoing senior men’s coach, Brad Berry for his two years of passion, commitment and hard work as we move into a new era for the club. Brad, a premiership Tiger with a connection to the club extending over four decades, took on the senior men’s coaching role during a period of significant transition. The rigorous efforts and desire of Brad and his coaching staff helped return the playing group to a level of stability and growth, with the 2025 cohort one of the largest in recent times. On the field, in 2025 Brad took the senior men’s team to the finals for the first time since 2016, with the season culminating in a narrow semi-final loss. The success of the men’s senior program was evident in the Reserves progressing to a preliminary final, and the Thirds a grand final. Brad’s level of professionalism and dedication earned him respect from everyone involved with the senior men’s program during his tenure. On behalf of the board, committee, players, members, sponsors and supporters we’d like to extend our sincere thanks to Brad and his family and wish him the best of luck for future coaching endeavours. Once a Tiger, always a Tiger.
