On the back of 7 goals against St Bernards on the weekend and 9 goals against Uni blues earlier in the season, Shaun Glennen of St Bedes/Mentone Tigers is this week’s Club Warehouse Rising Star nomination.
A product of the Tigers’ junior program, Shaun joined the Club at Under 13s while a student at St Bedes College. Recognised early as a highly talented player, Shaun broke into the school 1st Eighteen school team as a Year 10 student and was a consistent member of junior league representative teams.
In 2010 while captaining the Tigers U17 team, Shaun also played VAFA U19s, commenced with Sandringham Dragons and made his VAFA Senior debut before suffering a significant leg injury.
Shaun worked hard in recovery and, balancing Year 12 school commitments, resumed with both St Bedes/Mentone Tigers and Sandringham Dragons in 2011. His 4 goals in last year’s Preliminary Final was one of many football highlights.
Shaun’s speed and skill around the goals are well known to Tigers’ supporters and were recognised by VAFA selectors with his inclusion in this year’s U19 Representative Team. At just 18 years of age, Shaun has a wonderful football future ahead of him. Also great bloke to have around the Club, all at St Bedes/Mentone Tigers and the VAFA congratulate Shaun on his nomination as Club Warehouse Rising Star.
