After heavy rain overnight, the morning appeared with sunlight and clear skies;perfect grand final weather. After the National Anthem was sung, the ball was bounced and the Grand Final began. Mt.Waverley came out strong and after 10 minutes of both teams trying to settle into their games and a few minor scores, they put the first goal on the board. We managed an equaliser and at quarter time we were up by 3 points, 10-7. Kicking with the wind in the second we managed 4.3 to their 1.1 late in the quarter, to set up a nice buffer at half time of 17 points, 30-13. After recharging the batteries at half time and some direction from the coaching staff, the boys game out and kicked 4 quick goals in the championship quarter, which left Mt. Waverley a little staggered. Taking their foot off the gas in the last couple of minutes allowed Mt.Waverley to score 2 goals, leaving us leading 54-25 going into the final quarter. Feeling confident, yet knowing their was 20 minutes of footy left for the 2012 season, all 25 players gave their best when on the ground and pounded another 4.4 onto the score whilst the opposition managed only 2 points. Final score 82-27. Premiers Under 15 Division 2. Division 1 here we come. Congratulations to a fantastic group of kids on back to back premierships. Thanks to Tom and Dan Garside for a stellar job of coaching over the last two years; one premiership each as coach.
