Standing at a towering 208cm, former St Kilda rookie Blake McGrath is relishing the chance to coach the club’s Under-12s side, while also turning out in the ruck himself for the seniors.
The club’s junior president Andrew Murphy said McGrath’s involvement with the juniors, which includes working as a coaching mentor for the junior girls program, was a huge boost for the club.
“Blake was approached to take on our Under-12s group and he leapt at the opportunity,” Mr Murphy said.
“To say that the players and parents, are over the moon with the appointment is a huge understatement.”
McGrath said he was delighted to be part of the junior program.
“I’m really looking forward to the season ahead and developing the kids’ skills,” he said.
The club is hoping to add to the ranks of their Under-12s as well as youngsters to their Auskick program, which starts this Friday.
