In their best performance of the year to date St Bedes Mentone Tigers turned on an emphatic performance to convincingly beat traditional rivals De La Salle and thus retain the LaSallian Cup. From the first quarter you could see the boys had come to play, with their fierce tackling and continual pressure forcing the opposition into many errors and thwarting their usual free flowing game. Although the scoreline at quarter time was not a true reflection the Tigers were in control. This was magnified in the second stanza as we slammed on 7 twin calicos to all but have the game sewn up at the main break. That dominance was maintained throughout the second half as the pressure was too much for DLS and in a great overall team efort we greeted the judge to the tune of 55 points almost 10 goals. After the game the pundits were scratching their heads trying to work out when we had last won at DLS. Jaryd Rodertson is having a great season and was BOG. Chris Richards continually found the Footy, Pete McGettigan played his best game since returning from overseas, and Pat Kean thrived on the ruckwork of Luke Wintle.
