Happy New Year to everyone at St.Bedes Mentone Tigers.

Training will resume on Monday January 20 (venue TBC). Now that we have had a nice break over the Christmas period we must ensure we are ready to resume training with an adequate base behind us. Some of you are doing your own cross training at various venues which I encourage you to continue. You will however need to be aerobically ready for the training block between Feb to March – we will work hard during this period so we’re ready for Round 1 games. Our fitness levels won us many games at Senior level in 2013.

You should be looking to run between 6-8 km twice per week as well as some interval running (4 x 400m, 3 x 300m, 2 x 200m etc). Strength/Core work is also a given at this level of football. Give Brad Berry/Cameron Hansen a call if you need to discuss what you should be doing in this area.

The major activity I want you to get involved in is with footballs. Grab 5-6 Mates, go down to local oval and kick the ball around for an hour. Work hard with the footballs with your Mates.
We need to be ready to launch into 2014 Season on January 20 – no wasted sessions. Make sure you’re ready to go.
