Amazingly all 25 kids turned up with boots on and ready to go at a blustery Princes Highway Reserve to face Oakleigh in their first ever game of footy.
In inclement conditions, skills learned from Auskick and backyard footy were proudly on display to a massive parent supporter base on the sidelines. When the heavens opened on half-time St Bedes Mentone Tigers had done enough to put the game beyond doubt and the remaining half saw wet weather footy skills put to the test, and a few of the kids appear near frozen on the ground.
The smiles beamed as the team song was sung for the first ever time and seeing the mud soaked kids revel in the aftermath of their first real game was priceless. All are now counting the sleeps to round 2 and to get back out on the oval again
