On a cloudy gloomy day around Melbourne the Tigers faced a danger game against finals hopefuls Old Haileybury at Princes Park Caulfield. After an even first quarter where both sides kicked 5 goals the Tigers led by the dominance of Lachlan Mirams in the ruck totally controlled the next three quarters by playing a terrific brand of fast moving wet weather football in the trying conditions to win comfortably by 45 points. In our best team performance for the year the side had many avenues to attack, with Luke Velluto kicking 4 goals with Michael Barne, Alex Smout, Simon Richards and George Rowlands all kicking 3. James Tyquin is having a stellar season, was named best Alex Smout, Tommy Garside and Michael Barnes all did, well, while Darcy Holden did a great job in blanketing Old Haileybury’s playmaker.
The Reserves Development side had a comfortable 84 point victory to further boost their percentage. Tim Jeans Johnny Cayhan, and young veteran Luke Terrell all kicked 3. Lewis Stutterd had a huge day and was named BOG, Johnny Cayhan found some form, while Alex Cross played his best game for the year.
Under 19 No 1 Side made a return to form in a rare away game with a comfortable 10 goal win over Old Carey. Last minute inclusion Brando De Silva kicked 3, and he had plenty of support up forward with Zac Calvez, Sam Lunday and Max Millwood all kicking 2. Reagan Maddaford was named best and he received great support from Ben Mahy, Kevin Sharp and Mitch Johnstone.
The Under 19 Development side won their 5th game on the trot with a hard fought 2 point victory over MHSOB in the mud at South Yarra. Connor Ladds. Dane Heverin, Max Thompson, and Tom La Cava all kicked goals with Alexander Browne, Connor Shaw and Ryan Murley all relishing the wet conditions.
Unfortunately a very undermanned Thirds side were overwhelmed by a strong Marcellin unit and thus were comfortably beaten. Credit toLiam Bell, Daniel Gilmore, and Jake Townley who all battled hard all day.
And so it the half way mark of the season we as a club are in a strong position with four sides all in strong positions to participate in finals footy in 10 weeks time which is great for the players and all involved with the club.
Good Luck to Jaryd Robertson and Chris Mangoni who have been selected in the VAFA Representative Side to take on the SAAFL at Trevor Barker Reserve Sandringham at 2.15pm this Saturday.
