From the Chairman: Geoff Magrin

I am very excited to commence my new role as Chairman of such a strong and vibrant Club as St Bedes Mentone Tigers. I would like to welcome all members to the start of what promises to be a very exciting Season 2013.

The Senior players have been training hard for some time now and with some returning stars and several new players added to the mix the place is really jumping.

The lifeblood of the Club, the SJMFL programs, will also be starting up soon. Having he Juniors around the place always adds freshness and vitality and increases hopes for the coming year. The Club is in a fantastic position to build on past deeds and continue an era of sustained excellence at all levels.

I come to the Club with a long background of service at all levels from business, scientific and sporting communities. St Bedes Mentone Tigers is a unique Club that I have followed closely for several seasons and I am thrilled to be able to increase my participation in the running and governance of such an exciting community institution.

The main aim of the Board is to encourage community participation through playing, supporting, sponsoring – to make the Club an enjoyable environment in which to play and support local football. Due to the rapid expansion of the Club, it has been adjusting its Committee structures to reflect the realities of running Senior and Junior sections and a substantial “‘hospitality” business.

I am delighted to be joined on the Board of Management by former Coach Luke Beveridge, who will oversee “Strategy & Development”. Luke needs no introduction and his knowledge of building a culture of success is a vital acquisition.

Courtney Rowe is a successful business woman who runs her own thriving recruitment company. Courtney “brings to the table” perspectives from SJMFL and female points of view: and she will oversee many marketing aspects of the Club.

I am grateful for the continued involvement of Seamus Mc Gettigan (VAFA President), Andrew Murphy (SJMFL President), Peter Kiploks (Club Secretary) and Julian Knipe (Financial Director). Seamus, Andrew, Peter and Julian have already made an enormous contribution to the Club and I thank them for their continued support.

In addition to the VAFA and SMJFL football committees, we will have a Board Director running “House” operations. The House Committee will include the bar, canteens, catering (lunches & social functions) and facility maintenance. The three Committees will run the day to day operation of the Club and we will be publishing the names, pictures and contact details of key individuals to assist all Club members to access the relevant people as required.

St Bedes Mentone Tigers A.F.C. is a large community based organisation with over 500 families involved and in many ways is the envy of other Clubs. The Board is committed to continue improvement in all areas of the Club and to ensure the welfare and development of our players at all levels. The Board and Committees exist to support all players, support personnel and spectators with the intention of providing a safe, harmonious and enjoyable environment for all to share.

We look forward to your on-going involvement. Please continue to support all our teams, attend social functions and help us continue to build a Club of which we all are proud and where everyone is welcome.

Go Tigers
Regards
