JUNIOR TIGERS HEAD TO THE “G”: It was a veritable flood of Tigers that hit the MCG prior to the long weekend! It was a sensational Sunday evening with players, coaches, parents and siblings all attending on a chilly afternoon at football’s holy grail, the mighty MCG. Just on 60 tigers made the trek with our under 9 reds, Under 12’s and the under 13 Blues all offered the opportunity following a tough start to the season. The Melbourne Football Club was kind enough to respond to a request from the junior committee and supplied all 60 tickets free of charge which we are very thankful for.
On field it was a clinical display that saw the embattled Demons take a fair hit from a stronger, faster team on the day. It was a lesson to those attending that even at the highest levels it is possible to be beaten convincingly and not lose heart. The Melbourne playing group, fought hard for the full duration, (actually outscoring a dominant Hawthorn outfit in the third quarter) and never laid down. It is something that all junior footballers can take something from, we never lie down at TigerTown!
