All good things must come to and end and unfortunately so did the Tigers 5 game winning streak, as they fell to Old Scotch by 12 points in perfect conditions at the sun bathed Camberwell Sports Ground on Saturday.
Although the Tigers appeared a bit flat after the mammoth victory of last week, and while Scotch looked to be on top, our determination still had us well in the game and at half time we only trailed by one twin calico. The third term has often been termed the championship quarter, and unfortunately to our disdain it was exactly that for as Scotch with quick running, slick handball and some great high marking they kicked away from the Tigers to lead by some 25 points as the orange braek arrived. It was a sizeable but not insurmountable lead, and as the last term started one felt that the never say die attitude of this new look Tiger unit still gave them a chance. This proved to be the case as they showed their best form of the game, and as time on approached had clawed their way back to within 5 points of their opposition. Unfortunately Scotch steadied, stopped our momentum kicked another goal of their own and ended our winning run. Tim Doherty along with his brother Steve were really good players, Pat Kean is returning to his best, Chris Mangoni impressive again, with Luke Wintle giving his all in the ruck. Big game next week now against the top of the table University Blacks.
The Reserves although losing put in an improved performance to show that a win is not too far away. Luke Terrell, Michael Wintle, and Damien Waters all let the Senior Selectors know they are still around, with young Nick Munday impressing the masses.
The Under 19 Premier side fought off a determined Beaumaris to record another win, while the Under 19 South side had a comprenhise victory over Ormond, with Brendan Schubert kicking 10.
