Position Description

Reporting to the House Director, the Canteen Manager is the primary person responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Canteen at Mentone Reserve and Southern Road Reserves.

The Canteen Manager must ensure that safe and appropriate practices are followed in relation to hygiene and health legislation/regulations.

Duties The duties of the Canteen Manager include:

  • Operating the canteen on match days/evenings;
  • Have a good knowledge of and implement food handling and hygiene;
  • Provide leadership and create a positive environment for staff and volunteers who assist in the canteen;
  • Be responsible for stock ordering, food preparation, order checking and communicating with suppliers;
  • Efficiently manage stock rotation to ensure minimal wastage;
  • Collect, count and prepare monies as per internal guidelines (Move towards cashless transactions likely);
  • Ensure all canteen staff and volunteers are briefed on appropriate canteen procedures and guidelines;
  • Have the ability to coordinate and supervise others in a warm and professional manner;
  • Basic financial management skills; and
  • Have a working knowledge of Safe Food Handling
