Local football at Tigerland is alive as a huge crowd flocking to Mentone Oval to see St Bedes Mentone record their eleventh straight victory in both the senior and reserve divisions.
The tigers won easily kicking 25.26 (176) to 9.6 (60)
Young Brenton Schwartze who debuted for the Tigers with a solid game was watched by his older brothers in Troy and Ben who play for St Kilda and North respectively.
Parade trailed by only six points midway through the second quarter until a nasty incident saw Luke Wintle leave the ground. This stung the Tigers brigade to respond with a six goal burst to virtually seal the game at half time.
Fifteen goals to four after the break was devastating for Parade who are fighting to avoid relegation.
The highlight of the game was the arrival of Anthony Scafidi as a gun player for the Tigers. Anthony who joined his brother Andrew from Edithvale Aspendale at the start of the season had 37 possessions in a near best on ground performance. Andrew also played well with two goals up forward.
Best on ground though was ruck rover Michael Wintle who played four quarters of quailty football to complete destroy the Parade on balll division.
Up forward Paul Wintle kicked four goals before having to leave the ground at half time, whilst Brett Collins hauled in 13 marks and kicked three goals in another good performance. Newcomer Andrew McMahon added sting to the Tiger attack with four goals.
Jon Kane who was moved up forward was also scintallating. His goals were pure class.
The backline was led by skipper Luke Wintle, who dominanted again in the air whilst Steve Zakic, Steven Kidd, Nick Corda and David Kinsella all had the better of their opponents. Kinsella kicked two off a half back flank.
The Tigers face a real test next Sunday when they face second placed Ajax at Elsternwick Park.
