St Bedes / Mentone Tigers Amateur Football Club have teamed up in support of Kingston’s First ever Relay For Life.
Cancer Council Victoria are inviting residents to register for Kingston’s initial Relay For Life event, an inspirational, empowering and moving experience. Relay For Life is being held at the Tiger’s home ground at Mentone Reserve, Brindisi Street.
Relay For Life is an opportunity for local residents to band together where cancer survivors are celebrated, whilst we remember lost loved ones.
The St Bedes / Mentone Tigers is providing their support in the fight back against cancer, on what could prove to be one of the biggest weekends of their year as the potential of a Premiership on Saturday September 21st is within close reach; the St Bedes / Mentone Tigers Senior team are currently sitting second on the VAFA Premier League ladder.
On average 816 people in the City of Kingston area are diagnosed with cancer each year, by the local football team engaging their support towards Cancer Council Victoria are hoping to help promote the direct impact of cancer diagnosis throughout local residents on what hopes to be an annual event in the area.
“The St Bedes / Mentone Tigers Amateur Football Club are backing up the Cancer Council of Victoria’s first Relay for Life fund-raiser in the City of Kingston and call on all Kingston sports clubs to enter teams for the event and create a bit of friendly rivalry ” Peter Davis, Projects officer said.
Since 1999, Relay For Life has raised $30 million for cancer research, prevention and support services in Victoria with all funds raised going towards Cancer Council Victoria’s research, prevention programs and support services.
Relay For Life is committed to fighting back against cancer alongside the Kingston community, the St Bedes / Mentone Tigers Amateur Football Club is reflective of this mission.
