This Sunday is a very special day for U10 Reds Coach Dave Jennings, his team and many others…. We will be wearing orange armbands for Will Murray. I’m sure most of you have heard about Will and the accident he had in January that has left him in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. I taught Will’s sister Tess when she was in grade 5 and then coached/trained both Tess and Will a couple of years after that. Will’s mum and dad asked that I work on their endurance as they were both talented sports people. I trained them both up to run an 8km event around the Tan Track. During the race I ran with both of them on the first lap and then Will begged me to let him run off quicker in the final 4km. I shouldn’t have been concerned that he’d finish, he smashed it. At the time Will was just ten years old in grade 4. The SMJFL is doing a great thing to have this round dedicated to Will. If you would like to donate you can hand money to myself or Dave Morgan on Sunday. Another option is to hit up Will’s website: www.wheretheresawill.com.au
