Dear SBMT Community,

I hope that all of our SBMT families enjoyed a different kind of Easter this year. It is difficult not being able to get out and see our loved ones, and it is definitely strange not being able to play and watch footy, but as a broader community we are working together to “flatten the curve” and attempt to halt the spread of COVID-19 as much as possible.

During this time of isolation, we are clearly doing things much differently than what we had envisaged for 2020. By this stage of the year we had intended for the season to be underway, with an opening function, lunches and other celebrations to join us together and to enjoy our fabulous new facility. Unfortunately this is not the case. The flow on effect from this is that club members are not having the opportunity to engage with one another, there is diminished opportunity for physical activity, and the earning capacity for the club is much reduced.

Many of our SBMT community are doing it tough, but for those who can, the club needs your support more than ever. Below are just a couple of ways our Tigers can come together to support the club:

** Tickets with all funds going to support SBMT in the Toyota Good for Footy raffle can be purchased here: https://toyotagoodforfooty.raffletix.com.au/stbedesmentonetigers?

** Visit our online store (an order is going in this Friday for the new puffer vests): https://stbedesmentonetigers.com.au/product/vest/

** Australian Sports Foundation tax deductible donations (with all substantial donations recognised on an honour board in the new clubrooms): https://asf.org.au/projects/st-bedes-mentone-tigers-afc/

We will also have further fundraising and SBMT membership options in the coming weeks.

It is still unclear as to how the year and season 2020 will unfold. We may end up with a shortened season or even some other arrangement made between local clubs. The way forward will be made clearer in the coming weeks. Thank you so much to our amazing coaches who have strived to stay connected to their players during the current ISO period. Having connection to coach and teams outside of the home is crucial to the mental health of our players at the moment. It is fabulous to hear of so many teams keeping each other occupied and motivated!

To keep the social connection going, we’re asking for some SBMT TikToks! See the first clip here: https://www.tiktok.com/@sbmttigers . Just tag the club TikTok account @sbmttigers making sure you’re wearing your SBMT Tiger merch or colours, and it will be posted on the club socials as well. Anything with a footy! Anything showing what our SBMT Tigers are getting up to in ISO!

The kids are now back at school, and life in confinement will be getting tough for some. Remember to be kind to each other. Reach out to our SBMT community if you need it. But most of all stay at home, be safe and stay healthy.

Go Tigers!
