SBMT WomensIt seems like eternity since last season concluded but I’m excited about the prospect of football returning this coming weekend. Our senior men’s and women’s playing group, including our Under 19 men have been training the house down since late October last year and can’t wait for the weekend to arrive. All our teams have had a chance to trial new game plans and other positional changes in our recent practice matches against quality opposition and you, as supporters, will see an exciting new brand of competitive football from all our teams. We would also like to welcome to the club Joey Remman who will be taking the reins as coach of our second senior women’s team for 2019 . Joey, we welcome both you and your family with open arms to the club and wish you all the very best for a successful season ahead with the women’s team ably supported by senior women’s coach Al Gailey.

An update on our new development, all our portable change rooms for the opposition teams along with storage containers, a portable first aid room, and a brightly coloured red portable canteen have all been installed inside the ground and in the vacant block at the rear of the ground and demolition works are due to commence any day now.Rather than having to have our junior and senior players use the portable change rooms located in the vacant block, we have gathered a number of talented local tradespeople to professionally renovate the dilapidated visitors change rooms adjoining the social club and the result is fantastic.I’m sure that all of our players will greatly appreciate the efforts put in by the team.Special thanks go to Simon Richards and Mitch Kent from Simtec Electrics, Luke Young from LA Plastering P/L, Chris Dee of Chris’s Painting Services, Jimmy Colyvan and Andrew Whitelaw, along with several other club members who gave so generously of their time to make this happen.

With two senior women’s teams competing this season, which is a first for the club and a tremendous achievement by Al Gailey, all his support staff, and the playing group, which have been amazing in the recruitment of new players to the club.Due to the number of new and existing women playing at the club this season, we have purchased brand-new jumpers for both teams and are pleased to announce that the Geschke family, who have been such fantastic supporters of the club over many years, have kindly come on board to be the major sponsor of the women’s teams for the next three seasons which is greatly appreciated. The new company logo looks fantastic on the women’s jumpers and I’m sure that they will wear the jumpers with great pride this season and beyond. We would also like to also welcome back on board for their 30th year of amazing support to the club, both Mark and Ron Gordon from CCH.As a first for this season, we will be using the front and back of the senior men’s jumpers to proudly display the CCH logo for all to view .

Both Tom Brain and Samuel Browne have been responsible for keeping everyone informed with any special club based news stories, photos, or upcoming club events for the season ahead through our weekly newsletters. The feedback has been really positive and the guys are doing a fantastic job.Arriving soon will be Tiger TV with some fantastic interviews planned for the season ahead.Touching on our upcoming events, we have our first home game lunch for the season on Saturday the 13th of April which will honour our life members and past players of the club.As tables are filling fast, and for catering purposes, you will need to register your attendance via our try booking account. There will be matches played every week throughout the season at both our home ground at Brindisi Reserve and Southern Road Reserve and we would love to have you come down, support the club and the players to make this a memorable season for all. Thanks again for your continued support of the club and I look forward to meeting with you all at some stage during the season.

Kind regards
