The club wishes to send its condolences to the extended Murray family plus the Noosa Tigers AFC where Bones headed to in 1976.
Ray was not the most talented junior, often picked as 19th man before traveling to England for around 5 years with a group of our former Tigers playing rugby.
On return, he played 106 matches before heading north, always had a cheeky grin and was certainly a full-of-life character.
Bones joined the Noosa Tigers in 1976, he was a ruckman through and through and came to the Tigers at the age of 36 and played until 48.
He won three B&F’s, was the captain for many years and won senior premierships (1980-81)🈠So good was his record, he was made a life member at Noosa in 1983.
His friendships in Melbourne remained strong over the years and when he ventured down, he would drop into the Mentone Reserve to check out the club.
We have a lot of firsts at the club and Bones built his own boat, learned navigation and sailed around the world.
Ray’s funeral is on 12 April and with a plane full of Victorians heading up to pay their respects it is sure to be a grand send off.
