St Bedes Mentone Tigers recorded their 14th straight win with a comprehensive 101 point defeat of Fitzroy Reds.
The tradition of inaccuracy continues for the Tigers as they posted five points straight before their first six pointer from Paul Wintle.
The Tigers mid field was brilliantly led by Sam Anstey who racked up 36 possessions before being rested midway through the last quarter. Anstey was out done by Stephen Kidd who notched up 38 possessions to give the Tigers a ton of drive off half back.
The Tigers blew Fitzroy out of the water with a ten goal third quarter. Full forward Luke Terrell exploded with five third term goals and ended with six for the game.
Big man Steve Zakic was also in form with his strong play around the ground.
The Tigers centre line with James Tyquin on one wing, Anstey in the middle and Aaron Sawers on the other continual drove St Bedes into attack. Paul Wintle pulled down several strong marks and finished with three goals as did his young brother Michael.
Coach Luke Beveridge continues to experiment with his team. Ruckman Luke McMurray played well in his first game for the season whilst forward Andrew McMahon also did well across half back. Beveridge still has a number of players pushing for a return to the senior side. The next few weeks will see the heat go up at Brindisi Street as players vie for finals berths.
The Tigers now sit five games clear of their nearest rival and are guaranteed a second semi final birth.
Next week the Tigers face in form Old Camberwell at Brindisi Street.
