SBMT AFC today announced its youth team coaching appointments for season 2022.
According to the club’s Director of Football, Joe Galati, the appointments are reflective of the club’s key objective to attract volunteer coaches with a growth mindset and commitment to ongoing learning.
“Our coaches are our lead educators and the custodians of youth talent. We hold the firm belief at SBMT that good coaches never stop learning and we need to create a development focused environment that best supports this” said Galati.
The new appointments further enhance, what is already a highly respected AFL coaching panel, comprising three AFL Level 2 accredited coaches and numerous AFL development academy coaches.
The key additions of Andrew Saultry (former club VAFA under 19s midfield coach and current SFNL Division 1 assistant coach), Chelsea Bowen (Former Mentone Grammar AFL Coach), Brayden O’Toole (SBMT VAFA Seniors player) & Russell Gould (acclaimed basketball coach) will significantly bolster the club’s coaching ranks.
“I am confident that Andrew, Chelsea, Brayden & Russell will complement our
re-appointed senior coaches Lou Colella, Tighe Chandler, Natalie Corrigan,
Stuart Curran, Tony Corcoran and Jason Swain”, said Galati.
“To also have the depth and quality of some highly talented line coaches like
Paul McCormack, Aldo Mangoni, Shaun Napier, Chloe Saultry & Georgia Wilson supporting our senior coaches is just amazing”, said Galati.
“We are so fortunate at SBMT, that we have a highly connected development pathway from juniors, youth to senior’s football and our programme is built on our coaches all working together in sync to uphold the pillars of our curriculum and ensure a tailored transition”, said Galati.
With a laser like focus on developing its people (coaches and players alike), the future looks bright for this proud and storied community football club.
