Typical of the show down games of the AFL the game with Parkdale proved great for local football. The seniors won a hard fought game with a mtahc winning third quarter burst. The reserves pounded a hapless Parkdale, whilst the U19 kicked 36 goals in their day at the office.

A great weekend for the club with the seniors, reserves, U19’s and U17’s all sitting top of the table.

The much awaited game against Parkdale was a return to the old Federal League days with a huge crowd coming out to watch two traditional rivals. The last time the clubs played was back in 1989.

Game Highlights

> Tigers won by 52 points.

> Tigers jumped out of the blocks to kick 2.7 to 1 point. The game could have been all over early. Luke Wintle was the main culprit missing four deliberate shots.

> Parkdale however put up a tenacious second quarter and drew back to 10 points. At half time the crowd had a game on their hands.

> The third quarter St Bedes Mentone played all over Parkdale with an avalanche of goals from attaching play on football. Andrew Scafidi was the star. He came on justt before half time and explode with four second half goals.

> Centre player Tim McColl dominated and his heavy tackling caused a number of turn overs. Parkdale played a mark and kick game and players such as Damien Waters, Matthew Hilton, Michael Wintle and Paul Groves killed them at the loose ball gets.

> Steve Zakic’s ruck work was backed up by strong play around the ground. Whilst the backline led by Jon Kane dominated their opponents.

> David Kinsella took two spectacular marks in the goal square to thrill the crowd.

> James Tyquin kicked four from the wing to star along with Michael Wintle and Sam Anstey

> The last quarter was a dogged affair with each side kicking three goals, but the game was well and truly over.

> The reserves thrashed a hapless Parkdale 27.27.189 to 1.3.9

> The U19’s thrashed 36.19.235 to Melbourne Highs 1.2.8
