Dear St Bedes/Mentone Tigers community,

This COVID update will focus on two areas:

  • staying connected and PHONE A FOOTY FRIEND
  • launch of our SBMT online seminar series SPORTING A TIGER TOUGH MINDSET

Even though we are currently going through a difficult time in Melbourne, we need to try to remain positive. Whilst there are still things to be thankful for there is no doubt this is a challenging time for many of our own Tiger community. The effects of mental health challenges are becoming more evident within the broader community, and likely within our Tiger club family as well. Many of our friends are feeling the pinch with loss of jobs and reduced social connection.

With that in mind, we are encouraging all of our SBMT community to

PHONE A FOOTY FRIEND!

If you haven’t heard from a team mate, or one of your friends seems either unusually active or quiet on the socials, or even if you need to reach out yourself, phone your footy friends to keep that SBMT connection through this difficult period.

The way forward is to focus on our connectedness and to keep looking to the future when we will be back together and playing footy. We will get to enjoy our new clubrooms together, we will get back out on the field with mates! These things will happen! So it is important to stay future-focussed, keep a sports mindset through COVID and stay connected to your sport, your footy and your mates.

SBMT has been working together with MINDFULNESS MATTERS to launch a series of online seminars specifically for our players and SBMT club members whether young, younger or young at heart!
An application has been submitted for a local government grant to enable us to bring these crucial seminars to our SBMT community right now in this challenging time. Profits from our SBMT COVID masks are also contributing to costs.
