16 Angie AndungaSt Bedes/Mentone Tigers Under 15 player Angie Andunga has become our first female selected to represent Victoria in the AFL Under 16 Girls All Nations Interstate Championships 26 – 29 September in Shepparton. Over the past two months, girls in this age bracket who were born overseas were invited to training at several sites around Melbourne then trials at Punt Road Oval and a two day hit out in Healesville.

 From these training sessions a team has been selected by coaching duo David Rodan and Aaron Davey who are heading up this program and the AFL Indigenous Interstate Championships which are also being played in Shepparton 26 – 29 September. Matches kick off on Monday with the Vics up against Western Australia and Queensland, Northern Territory and South Australia on Tuesday and a combined NSW/ ACT on Wednesday. Best two teams play off in the final on Thursday morning. Congratulations Angie. The club is keen to expand junior girls teams in the SMJFL and a Senior Women’s team in the VAFA in 2017.
