With the final siren sounding on the last of our g With the final siren sounding on the last of our games yesterday, we wanted to say a big thanks to the entire SBMT community for another massive year. To all the players from Under 8s to Seniors that pulled on the red, blue and gold in season 2026 with pride and passion, and those that gave up their time to coach, assist, take on trainer duties and team manage our players at training and on match days: thank you. To the SBMT families and supporters who were there in any weather, with a grin, travelling home and away (not to mention finding missing mouthguards): thank you. To those who have volunteered their time to help out, clean up, cut up oranges, run dinners, mark grounds, and done a shift on the barbie or behind the bar: thank you. To our board and committees who give up their free time planning, organising, doing whatever is required to ensure our club runs smoothly: thank you. And finally to our sponsors who we are extremely grateful for the funds and services you provide our club: thank you. Our Men's Reserves and Seniors are both playing Preliminary Finals, and with a Grand Final spot on the line for both teams, we need the Tiger Army behind them. And for the Seniors, a win also means we're promoted to Premier B in 2027. So we're putting a call to arms out there to every member of our Tiger community. The St Bedes/Mentone Tigers AFC community is mourn The St Bedes/Mentone Tigers AFC community is mourning the passing of Gerald Stutterd, a much-loved and enormously valued contributor to the club. Gerald’s connection with the club stretched across more than four decades, beginning with his playing days for St Bedes Old Collegians FC between 1981 and 1986. He played 43 games for the club, including 10 senior and 33 reserves appearances. His service continued long after his playing days. Gerald coached the Under-19s in 2007 and 2008 before taking on an official leadership role, serving as Club Chair in 2017 and 2018 and subsequently as a Board Member responsible for sponsorship in 2019. Through his business, Carter Grange Homes, Gerald was also a major supporter of the club, proudly sponsoring the Tigers from 2020 through to 2026 with his company name now prominent on the back of the senior team's jumpers. Gerald's involvement with the club extended to him holding many volunteer roles during the years his children played for the club between 2007 and 2019, and in prior years when club members built the original Corboy Pavilion where he generously donated building materials without seeking any acknowledgement. Gerald’s contribution, commitment and generosity to the club will be remembered with enormous gratitude. Our thoughts are with Gerald’s family, friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Vale Gerald.
