Early in the week the St.Bedes Senior women trained with the St.Peters U18 squad at Centenary Park. This was the first step towards creating a pathway for junior girls to experience senior football, and hopefully for some be the stepping stone to elite football with the VFLWomen’s and AFLW. Four St.Peters U18 players joined the senior team for Saturday’s game against Yarra Old Grammarians, the first time this season the Tigers have fielded a full side.Losing the toss the Tigers, kicking into a strong wind, were held scoreless whilst Yarra were able to post 1 goal 3 to lead into the first break. The tables turned in the second quarter with great drive from Meg Geschke in the midfield playing an unfamiliar rucking role. She was supported by the strong run of Ella McDonell and Hayley Efthymiadis, holding Yarra scoreless while posting 2-11 for the quarter. After the main break, Beth Supple was moved into the centre and created some good forward moves into the strong breeze, while the defence of Sarah Butler working hard alongside Monique “Chucky” Blair restricted Yarra to only 3 behinds. After the last change we saw a flurry of behinds with Sammy Fisher closing out the game on 3 goals and Kristal Lugosi putting up the final score for SBMT-St.Peters to run out winners by 40points.

Goals: Sammy Fisher 3, Laura Summers, Beth Supple

Best Players: Meg Geschke, Gen Barns-Dunne, Sammy Fisher, Hayley Efthymiadis, Beth Supple, Gemma Reinhardt
